Recording drives

How do I record a drive?

Open the Drive tab and tap Start Tracking. Allow location access when prompted, then drive. Tap End Trip when you finish and TripMax analyses and saves the trip. For the most accurate results, keep your phone mounted securely with a clear view of the sky.

I declined location access. Can I still use TripMax?

Yes — everything except recording a drive still works. Recording needs GPS, so if you'd like to turn it on later, go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → TripMax and choose While Using the App or Always.

Does tracking work with the screen off?

Yes. TripMax keeps recording in the background during an active drive. Granting Always location access makes this most reliable, particularly if you switch to other apps mid-drive.

Why is my top speed or distance slightly different from my car?

TripMax measures speed from GPS (Doppler), while car speedometers usually read a few percent high by design. GPS accuracy also depends on sky visibility — tunnels, multi-storey car parks and dense cities can introduce error.

How is G-force measured?

TripMax reads the accelerometer at 50 Hz and mathematically removes gravity, so horizontal G-force is measured correctly no matter how your phone is mounted or oriented.

Does TripMax drain my battery?

Continuous GPS and sensor recording uses battery, as with any tracking app. For long drives we recommend keeping your phone on a charger.

Leaderboards & privacy

Do I have to appear on the leaderboards?

No. Publishing is entirely optional and off unless you turn it on. TripMax asks you during onboarding, and the app is fully usable either way — if you decline, your stats simply stay on your device.

What exactly becomes public if I do publish?

Your driver tag, your car, your country and your records (top speed, 0–100 time, best average speed and distance totals). Your routes, your individual trips and your profile photo are never published. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.

How do I stop publishing?

In the app: Settings → Privacy → Publish my stats, and switch it off. That stops publishing immediately and deletes what was already published — your public driver card, your leaderboard entries and your cloud-stored trips. Your data stays on your device, and your driver tag stays reserved for you in case you switch it back on.

Can I change my driver tag?

Driver tags are unique across TripMax. If the one you want is taken, pick another. Email us if you need a change made for you.

Subscriptions

What do I get with a subscription?

A TripMax subscription unlocks drive tracking and the full stats suite, leaderboards, rivals and the share-card tools. See Terms of Use for billing details.

How do I restore a purchase on a new device?

Sign in with the same Apple Account, open TripMax and tap Restore Purchases on the subscription screen.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. Open iOS Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → TripMax → Cancel Subscription. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the current period.

Your account

How do I move my trips to a new phone?

If you've turned on Publish my stats, your trips are backed up to the cloud — sign in with Apple on the new device and they download automatically. If you haven't, your trips live only on your device, so nothing is uploaded to transfer.

How do I delete my account and data?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, synced trips and leaderboard entries, and releases your driver tag. You can also email us to request deletion.

Is TripMax safe to use while driving?

Start the app before you move off, then leave your phone alone. Never interact with your device while driving, and always obey speed limits and traffic law. TripMax is a record-keeping tool, not a reason to drive fast.
